Feel good fashion with Country Road and Red Cross

Country Road have teamed up with the Red Cross to reward customers for putting their social and fashion conscience into action!

Fashion Trade is a great initiative which aims to raise money for the community and reduce landfill by encouraging people to recycle their pre-loved Country Road clothing and accessories.

To get involved, simply donate any good quality clothing or accessories and at least one pre-loved Country Road item to any participating Red Cross retail store… And, in return you’ll receive a $10 voucher to put towards your next purchase of $50 or more at Country Road
The donated items will then be sold on through Red Cross retail stores to raise funds to support its everyday work with vulnerable people.
So… reward yourself three times over – with a clean wardrobe, support for a good cause and an excuse to go shopping!

Happy Birthday to The Outnet!!

It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year since The Outnet graced our online presence with fabulous bargains on designer labels. In this time the Net-A-Porter outlet spin-off has allowed us to pick up the likes of Halston, Balmain and Pucci for a fraction of the retail price.

House of Turtle would like to say thanks to The Outnet – you rock our world… and of course, Happy Birthday! Looking forward to many more years ahead.

PS. For those who RSVP’d, don’t forget The Outnet $1 sale is on today!

LMFF: Melbourne’s GPO Feast of Fashion Shows – This Thursday 18 March

A taste of what’s to come!

This coming Thursday (18 March), Melbourne’s GPO will deliver its Feast of Fashion shows as part of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival program line up.

Melbourne’s GPO is fast becoming renowned for its unique fashion events which fuse performance, art and fashion. And, this year’s LMFF shows will not disappoint.

Two theatrical shows (12.30pm and 1.30pm) will feature GPO’s newest recruits, Manning Cartell, Acne, Alpha 60 and LIFEwithBIRD, alongside high-end favourites Lisa Ho, Akira and Leona Edmiston, amongst other GPO favourites.

Set against a dramatic backdrop of black and gold, GPO’s Feast of Fashion shows will be reminiscent of opulent baroque glamour.

For those of you without tickets to the shows, be sure to pop in to Melbourne’s GPO this Thursday anyway, as the doors will be open from 10am to 8pm for special in-store offers and designer appearances.

See you there! Keep an eye out for post-show round up on House of Turtle this Thursday.

Melbourne’s very own Obus are moving!

To celebrate they’re having a massive Studio Sale next week. With great offers on seconds, samples, shoes and their summer range, you’d be crazy to miss it. Plus, they are selling their old fabrics… which means the more talented of us can dust off our sewing machines and create our own Obus inspired pieces! I can’t sew at all. BUT, that’s hardly the point. 😉

First Ever Thurley Family and Friends Sale

A very lovely friend of mine sent this to me today to share with you all…

The first ever Thurley family and friends sale is on this Wednesday 22 July in Carlton. Check the invite for details.

Thurley was launched in 2005 by Helen O’Connor, who studied at RMIT in Melbourne, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York (where she was offered a scholarship).

This unique label debuted its first collection at the Winter 2006 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, where it was short-listed for the LMFF Designer Award. Since then, Thurley has well and truly made its mark in the fashion industry and grown significantly in popularity for its beautifully tailored, delicate and feminine collections.

Check out the Thurley website for stockists and see a great video of the latest Thurley collection on the runway. I love the track playing in the background – if anyone knows what it is, let me know!

See you at the sale.

Net-A-Porter End of Season sale now on

Robert Cavalli Fringed Leather Vest

Chloe Leather Calf High Boots

Stella McCartney Palm Pendant Necklace

Net-A-Porter’s End of Season sale is now on! Hurry stock moves fast. Designers include Chloe, Halston (Rachel Zoe’s fave fashion house), Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo and more.

The black and white image above is the campaign Net-A-Porter sent out. The silhouette is super cool. I could almost print it, frame it and stick it on my wall! But that would only encourage me to shop more!
My top three picks from the sales collection are:
1. Robert Cavalli Fringed Leather Vest – super hot, super now (Sass and Bide are bringing out a fringed vest in their July collection)
2. Chloe Leather Calf High Boots – You can never have too many pairs of boots. These will suit all occasions. Team with a shirt dress, jumpsuit, or a pair of leggings and a big jumper.
3. Stella McCartney Palm Pendant Necklace – I’ve been watching this piece for some time now, it reminds me of summer, beaches and cocktails with umbrellas in them.

Happy shopping!
