Little Red Riding Hood just grew up! And she’s wearing Halston

OMG, I’m having a Rachel Zoe “I die” moment for
this Halston one-shoulder, scarf mini dress.

Simple, soft, sleek and sexy in one hot little number… And, with its fabulous scarf detail you can ditch the hood!

The Big Bad Wolf better watch out because this dress is going to leave him panting.

Kill it with minimal accessories (gold studs and a solid gold bangle), a hot pair of pumps and a whole lot of attitude.

Simply fabulous… It’s Top 10 Friday!

Toff it up for The Ashes with this tee and brooch, teamed with jeans and a blazerSass and Bide – A Pocketful of Dreams

What an exciting week! Tahnee won Australia’s Next Top Model (though Cassie got the judges vote), Project Runway Australia started and outed it’s first designer, The Ashes began… and finally, new season look books are starting to come to life with stock now arriving in store.

New seasons are great because you get the opportunity to explore. Most designers gradually introduce their range into the stores, so you can do a bit of style stalking without making rash decisions. I love planning which pieces will work with my wardrobe (and which ones I’ll need to buy a new one for).

I also love that there’s a general buzz of excitement from the sales crew about the new items. Often they’re wearing the soon-to-be-released pieces too – a tell tale sign of the great stuff coming in.

Quick Tip: During the sales check out the next season’s look books to make sure you’re not going to regret your purchases (nothing worse than wishing you had saved your money when the next season hits).

Here’s my Top 10 of what’s new this week:

1. Sportsgirl have developed a fabulous interactive website. In addition to showing off their range, they’ve got chat, music downloads and all-round fun. Have your say now

2. Souvenir Delirium II is in at Mimco. I call it modern old school, or old school modern – others might just call it mod

3. Sass and Bide‘s new range is as always truly fabulous. I’ve already been in three times this week. I love the simplicity of the Pocketful of Dreams tee, and that every season works collectively with the last

4. Project Runway Australia is back. It won’t be long before the claws are out

5. Rachel Zoe is willing to share her fashion and lifestyle tips in The Zoe Report – sign up now for updates from the Mistress of Style

6. Read Net-A-Porter’s interview with Roland Mouret – who shares three versatile ways to wear his Top Tunic Dress (TTD)

7. Hollywood’s latest denim obsession, Jet by John Eshaya is now available at Miijo

8. Bruno is out. At the cinemas (Ange and I are seeing it tonight – can’t wait)

9. The results of the Australia Beauty Awards 2009 are in.

10. Aesop release their first CD this month, Aesop 105 Minutes said to be their “respite from urban clamour”

Happy Friday!

Robert Cavalli Fringed Leather Vest

Chloe Leather Calf High Boots

Stella McCartney Palm Pendant Necklace

Net-A-Porter’s End of Season sale is now on! Hurry stock moves fast. Designers include Chloe, Halston (Rachel Zoe’s fave fashion house), Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo and more.

The black and white image above is the campaign Net-A-Porter sent out. The silhouette is super cool. I could almost print it, frame it and stick it on my wall! But that would only encourage me to shop more!
My top three picks from the sales collection are:
1. Robert Cavalli Fringed Leather Vest – super hot, super now (Sass and Bide are bringing out a fringed vest in their July collection)
2. Chloe Leather Calf High Boots – You can never have too many pairs of boots. These will suit all occasions. Team with a shirt dress, jumpsuit, or a pair of leggings and a big jumper.
3. Stella McCartney Palm Pendant Necklace – I’ve been watching this piece for some time now, it reminds me of summer, beaches and cocktails with umbrellas in them.

Happy shopping!

Jazz up your home for a fraction of the price

Photography, fashion and art books are great for ideas around the home and for cutting out pics!

I found this pic of Johnny Depp and Kate Moss on ebay for $15, and stuck it in a frame from Country Road – Total cost $65

Can’t afford to decorate your place with that print that you’ve been hanging to put up (pardon the pun)? Well, here are some some styling tips for around the home that won’t cost you a fortune.

1. Buy a reasonably priced photography or art book, cut out your fave pics and frame them. I came across this idea in Rachel Zoe’s Style A to Zoe guide. As the fabulous Zoe says in the book, “Great photography is great photography, whether it’s an autographed print or not.”

I love Harper’s Bazaar 10 Years of Fashion – at only $39.95 you can find some great images to jazz up your walls, or it’s great as it is on the coffee table.

2. Pick up a cheap print from ebay and buy a nice frame to hang it in.

3. Head down to your local market, op shop or antique store. You’ll be amazed what you can find.

4. Buy a canvas and some cheap paints from the art store and paint your own. Pick a few key colours that go with your place, or reflect your personality. If you’re not overly artistic – keep it simple and stick to solid blocks of colour to brighten up your home.

5. Get a funky frame (or framing device like below) and hang your fave postcards. Alternatively, frame them individually or all together in a large frame.

6. Pick images that you like. It doesn’t matter whether you know art or not. Stick to what you know and love, not what you ‘think’ others will like.

7. Have fun with it… and remember, if you no longer like it – you haven’t spent a fortune, so you can always change it later.

I’ve collected these postcards on my travels, from friends and promotions. Total cost approx. $25

That’s bananas!

Oh Rachel Zoe, where would we be without you? Since you came along, I’ve been glued to the first season of The Rachel Zoe Project and anxiously await the second one, I realised my shopping problem was not one, instead it is a way of life, and over Christmas, I couldn’t put down your Style A to Zoe guide (a lovely gift from my BFFs, Ange and Rean) – I even ignored the typos and poor print job.

How I wish I had your wardrobe, your budget… and your style team. I want your furs, handbags, jewellery, dresses… and more. But wait I can! dropdeadgorgeousdaily posted a very exciting announcement today – Rachel Zoe held a charity auction at Decades Two (Zoe’s fave vintage shop) to raise money for ovarian cancer charities. And, apparently some of Zoe’s pieces are up for grabs on ebay. I guess we can all get a piece of the Zoe wardrobe after all. We die!
