This Dhini sequinned jacket can blow my trumpet any day!!

No words, nor music, can describe how much I love, want, die for, must have and desperately need this Dhini jacket.
Maybe I should invest in a lotto ticket, cross all fingers, toes, legs and arms in hope, and pray to all the Gods that somehow it magically appears in my wardrobe.

Anyone know where Jeannie is hiding these days? Because I dream of this jacket!

MSFW Update: The Spirit of the Black Dress Exhibition and Gala Opening

MSFW Event:
The Spirit of the Black Dress – Gala Opening

Date: Monday 31 August, 2009

Location: Georges, 195 Little Collins Street, Melbourne

On Monday I attended the Gala Opening of The Spirit of the Black Dress – an exhibition which promotes and showcases emerging Australian talent.

The Spirit of the Black Dress brings together different factions of the fashion and textiles industry to create a vibrant community that commands equal social, environmental and economic success. An endeavor that is much needed in response to the recent global financial crisis and increasing demand for products which have a reduced impact on our natural resources.

The Spirit of the Black Dress is now on and will run from 10am to 8pm everyday from 1st – 6th September as part of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.

When you arrive at Georges, you will see ten beautiful dresses showcased throughout the gallery – each complimented by powerful images of models styled in the dress. It is clear straight away that an incredible amount of work and detail has gone into each dress, and whilst they might be all ‘black’ – they are also very unique and different. Be sure to read the descriptions as they provide an insight into the vision and aesthetic of each designer.

The opening itself was well attended by designers, stylists, media, and more. Georges had once again been transformed into one of Melbourne’s finest fashion institutions with red carpet, glittering chandeliers and the original 1800s ‘Georges’ logo imprinted on big glass windows. Funky looking waiters wandered around with champagne and canapes. The mood was light and fun, with everyone showing their enthusiasm for this inaugural exhibition.

Congratulations to all the designers, and to The Spirit of the Black Dress founder Tullia Jack, Jane Hayes, and their supporters for putting together a wonderful exhibition. One we hope to see again at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in 2010.
