On Friday I headed along to see Runways 5 & 6 at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival… As usual, the L’Oreal Powder Room looked super stylish and was swarmed by Melbourne fashionistas itching to get their nails and lips done, and tutorials on L’Oreal Paris’ new Nude BB creams.
Here are some of my highlights from the Runway, featuring sass & bide (pic 1 & 2), Lucette (pic 3), Rodeo Show (pic 4), Bul (pic 5 & 6) and the Runway 6 finale… A sea of Pure Scarlet… L’Oreal Preference Hair Colour, P67… The amazing and official hair colour of LMFF 2013.
And finally, the bottom pic is a TV presenter outside the shows explaining to his audience that milk crates were the only way to get to model height at LMFF. LOL!

L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival kicked off Runway 1 (presented by GRAZIA) last night with collections from Alice McCall, camilla and marc, Collette Dinnigan, Fleur Wood, LIFEwithBIRD, Nicola Finetti, sass & bide and Toni Maticevski.
Check out the Runway 1 collections for yourself online at the LMFF Gallery and on LMFF TV.
I’ve already watched the sass & bide collection five times. Lots of opulent black with gold detailing, much like what we saw at the London Fashion Week (without the whites and creams).
I’m off to see Runway 3 tonight! Can’t wait to see the Lisa Ho collection.
Melbourne’s GPO is fast becoming renowned for its unique fashion events which fuse performance, art and fashion. And, this year’s LMFF shows will not disappoint.
Two theatrical shows (12.30pm and 1.30pm) will feature GPO’s newest recruits, Manning Cartell, Acne, Alpha 60 and LIFEwithBIRD, alongside high-end favourites Lisa Ho, Akira and Leona Edmiston, amongst other GPO favourites.
Set against a dramatic backdrop of black and gold, GPO’s Feast of Fashion shows will be reminiscent of opulent baroque glamour.
For those of you without tickets to the shows, be sure to pop in to Melbourne’s GPO this Thursday anyway, as the doors will be open from 10am to 8pm for special in-store offers and designer appearances.
See you there! Keep an eye out for post-show round up on House of Turtle this Thursday. Turtle xox
For those without tickets to all the events, and for those who do, LMFF have ensured fashion fans can interact with the excitement of LMFF in lots of fun and unique ways.
Festival Director, Karen Webster is excited about LMFF‘s new “high tech and high touch” approach. “LMFF is about bringing fashion to the people and the fashion consumer is our VIP. We look forward to sharing great content with them, be it here in Australia or around the world.”
iPhone users can access their very own LMFF app which features all the festival information you need, including a full program, designers, venues and more. Plus you can check out your fave outfits in a gallery and on LMFF TV. For those visiting Melbourne for the festival, LMFF have also included a ‘little black book‘ section of their fave bars, boutiques and restaurants.
And, if you want a little bit more, you can interact with the crew and friends via Facebook and Twitter.
For those of us using Blackberries and regular phones, you can still check out all the LMFF gossip and updates at the LMFF website and blog, and subscribe to LMFF Swingtag, the festival’s e-newsletter.
I’ll be keeping you up-to-date over the next week with all my highlights and must see events! See you there.
Dhini announced as one of this year’s seven finalists
Seven finalists have been selected to present their capsule Autumn/ Winter collections at this year’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival for the 2010 LMFF Designer Award, presented by Woolmark.
Dion Lee, Dhini, Gail Sorronda, Gary Bigeni, Lui Hon, Konstantina Mittas and Therese Rawsthorne were all selected as finalists from an increasingly competitive field of entrants.
The winner of the 2010 LMFF Designer Award will be presented at the conclusion of the runway presentation, to be held on Tuesday 16 March at 7.30pm at Atlantic, Central Pier, Docklands.
With a line-up like this, judges will no doubt have a tough job selecting who will win the lucrative prize from Woolmark of $10,000, as well as exclusive introductions to Woolmark’s extensive network of contacts locally and overseas.
Past winners of this prestigious award include Ben Pollitt (Friedrich Gray), Toni Maticevski, S!X, Mad Cortes, Josh Goot, TV, Yeojin Bae and Romance was Born.
My favourite from the line-up would have to be Dhini, however all seven finalists are bound to give the high profile judges a tough task of choosing who will win the award this year.
LMFF is just around the corner and with it comes some of Australia’s most anticipated business events, including the Business Seminar, Marketing Breakfast and Designer Forum.
This year’s Business Seminar guests include Christian Blanckaert, Former Chairman and CEO of Hermes and Sarah Curran, Founder and CEO of my-wardrobe.com. Melbourne born designer, Michael Angel returns home for the Designer Forum. More speakers yet to be announced.

I’m a bad, bad fashionista!!! I kind of forgot to buy tickets to LMFF. I know what you’re thinking, how can I do this? I’ve just been so busy lately working in my white collared world and doing freelance editing for a design magazine that I kind of forgot to get off my lazy butt and do something about it.
No excuse really!
Now, how on Earth am I going to know what to wear for the next year? How will I know what trends to look out for? Not to worry… I’ll be checking out my fave fashion mags – local and international (they’re listed under inspirations on the right hand side of this page), as well as some great blogs my friend Silvia put me onto. Check them out in my profile under the blogs I’m following. Thanks gorgeous!
And for those of you going to the shows… drop me a line, I’d love to hear from you.
My description blog about what this is all about would’ve been up today if I hadn’t knocked the back button and lost the entire lot. Argh! Later this week now.
In the meantime, check out the upcoming sales and events on the right hand side of the page. With LMFF starting on Sunday both Chaddy and GPO are having special evenings and VIP nights.
Also, Mico-Mico are celebrating their first birthday! Congratulations. To say thanks to their customers and friends they are offering 20% off till the 31st March. To secure the discount, enter ‘birthday’ in the code section when you checkout.
