As a child growing up in the ’80s, I remember my first make up discovery was blue mascara. I used to rummage through my Mum’s make up and experiment with the different colours to see what I could get away with. One day I even rocked up to primary school in Mum’s Christian Dior blue mascara. I felt so sophisticated and grown up.
I got into trouble from the principal and put on grounds duty. But it was worth it. My life had changed forever. I was in love!
So imagine my delight in receiving an update today (alas I am not in attendance) from Rosemount Australia Fashion Week (RAFW) 2011 about the Magdalena Velevska show where Bobbi Brown was the make up partner.
A bold flash of blue mascara featured as a highlight, complimented by soft dewy skin. Immediately, my memories of that pivotal day of my fashionable youth came rushing back.
Magdalena’s collection features intricate detailing and a brilliant colour palette, balanced with a clean style. Bobbi Brown teamed this with an ethnic inspired beauty look that featured a touch of ’60s influence and intricate woven braids to create a modern take on the Russian bride. All topped off with those electric blue lashes.
Makeup Director Nica Marcello, International Artist & National Education for Bobbi Brown says “Much like the fashion we take a pretty, feminine and traditional look and fast-forward it with powerful blue lashes, infused with our Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Cobalt.”
Create the Magdalena Velevska look for yourself with these products from Bobbi Brown:
– Foundation Stick (my own faithful foundation!)
– EXTRA Repair Foundation
– Face Highlighting Pen in Opal
– Beige Shimmer Brick
– Lashes coated with Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Cobalt
– Lip Balm SPF 15 + Pale Pink Pot Rouge
I know I’m rushing out to get the Cobalt Gel Eyeliner to see if I can get away with it at work!
