Furry Comforts and the fabulous Arthur Galan

Finally, it’s arrived… and in my hot little hands. AG‘s oh so luxe Fur Gilet is now in store. This limited release vest (or gilet as they call it) is super sexy, super glorious and hot, hot, hot!

I first spotted it in the March 2009 issue of Harpers Bazaar (page 152) and immediately added myself to be ‘first’ in line on the waiting list. I have since harassed the lovely Evelyn at the Melbourne Central AG store on a weekly basis to find out when it will be in. As fate would have it, Mr Galan himself delivered it to the store tonight whilst I was trying on another of their super sexy additions, the Military Leather Skirt. Mr Galan kindly showed me the best ways to wear this unique two-sided gilet, which is salt and pepper ‘fur’ on one side, and soft gunmetal grey ‘leather’ on the other (it’s actually 100% lambs wool). It looks great buttoned up and loose. Definitely an investment piece which will provide many years of great wearing and go with pretty much anything – day or night.

Meanwhile, it was not ALL about me. Mr Galan and the girls also looked after my fab friend Dot while she tried on numerous dresses and tops. What I also loved about tonight, was seeing the same passion his retail team have when they serve you in the man himself. Mr Galan really looked after us, as well as others in the store (including the guys – the Melbourne Central store now also stocks AG’s men’s line). It was quite a treat. He was genuinely interested in seeing how his clothes worked on different people, body shapes and styles. We had a ball. We also got to meet his lovely wife, Mimi (I do hope I spelt that right).

I truly believe I am the happiest little fashionista in the world at this particular moment. My only devastation is that it’s going to be 33 degrees tomorrow and I can’t wear my fur gilet immediately. Thank you Mr Galan, you are the best.

PS. Mr Galan was in store as part of Melbourne Central’s Friday Nights of Fashion.
